Setting up your browser to work with JAQ

JAQ is compatible with all web browsers, but some extra functions are available if you configure your browser correctly. These mainly relate to the file and folder links on the Jobs and Quotes pages in JAQ, where clicking the folder link provided will open the file or folder directly, without the need to navigate to the folder using My Computer.

Update July 2021. Microsofts IE is no longer supported by Microsoft, and therefore we recommentd you use Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.

Chrome and Edge need a free plug in called Local Explorer, installed from the Google store. See instructions at the bottom of this page.

Once you have installed the plug in, you need to tell JAQ to use it on your device. To do this, in JAQ, go to the E menu ( Employees ), click on My Preferences. Then tick the option Use Local Explorer for file links, and then Save.

To install the Local Explorer plug in, follow the instructions below.

Chrome users.

Please visit the link below to install the "Local Explorer" plug in for Chrome.

Then click the button "Add to Chrome", click "Add extension". Once installed, you will be redirected to a page asking you to "Click here to install Integration Module.", do so, and then run the downloaded file "LocalExplorer-Setup.exe" and follow its prompts to finish installing the plug in.

Edge users.

The latest version of Edge supports Chrome extensions, so the "Local Explorer" plug in for Chome ( above ) will work with Edge, find it at the same web store address used for Chome above.

You may see a message about "You can now add extensions from the Chrome Web Store to Microsoft Edge", please click the button "[ Allow extensions from other stores ]" and click "Allow".

Then just like Chrome, follow these instructions. Click the button "Add to Chrome", click "Add extension". Once installed, you will be redirected to a page asking you to "Click here to install Integration Module.", do so, and then run the downloaded file "LocalExplorer-Setup.exe" and follow its prompts to finish installing the plug in.

Security Risk!

The "Local Explorer" plug in mentioned above was not developed by JAQ Software, and therefore we can not guarantee it is secure. While it appears to be safe, please be aware any plug in for any browser could be a security risk.
